Keratin hair smoothing in Perth, Scotland

Keratin hair treatment

Keratin smoothing calms frizz and cuts drying time. It does not turn curly hair straight and it is not permanent — it loosens the texture and wears off gradually over a few months, which is either exactly what you want or not what you were picturing.

The treatment coats the hair shaft with a keratin-based formula that is then sealed in with heat. The cuticle lies flatter, so hair reflects more light, absorbs less humidity and takes noticeably less time to dry. On wavy hair the result is close to straight; on tight curls it is looser and softer rather than flat.

It lasts somewhere between two and four months, and how you wash it is what decides where in that range you land. Sulphate-free shampoo makes the difference between three months and six weeks — it is the easiest step to forget, and it decides everything.

Price depends on length and thickness, so it is quoted after I have seen your hair rather than from a list. Long, dense or previously chemically treated hair takes more product and more time, so I give you the figure at the consultation, once I can see what we are working with.

What the appointment looks like

  1. 1

Consultation: I look at your hair's length, density and previous colour or chemical treatments, and confirm the quote.

  2. 2

Wash and application: a clarifying wash first, then the formula worked through section by section.

  3. 3

Sealing: blow-dry and flat iron to lock the treatment into the hair. This is the longest part.

  4. 4

Aftercare: sulphate-free shampoo from here on. I will tell you when to wash it and what to avoid in the first days.

Before you book

Keratin smoothing is not recommended during pregnancy or breastfeeding. It is a smoothing treatment, not chemical straightening — it will not permanently alter your curl pattern, and it does not repair damage. Results depend on your starting hair type and on aftercare.
